Acceptable Use Policy

This policy sets out what may and may not be published or done through Maqal. It exists so that writers can publish freely while readers, other customers, and the platform itself stay protected. It forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to every account.

1. Content that is never permitted

You may not publish material that is unlawful or that we are required to remove. This includes any depiction of the sexual abuse or exploitation of minors, which we remove immediately and report to the competent authorities; terrorist or violent extremist material; incitement to violence, hatred, or discrimination against people on the basis of protected characteristics; intimate images shared without the consent of the person depicted; content that harasses or threatens an identifiable person; malware, phishing pages, or other material designed to compromise readers; and content that infringes copyright, trade marks, or other rights you do not hold.

2. Conduct that is never permitted

You may not use the service to send unsolicited bulk messages, to run phishing or fraud schemes, or to impersonate another person or organisation in a way likely to deceive. You may not attempt to bypass plan limits, access other customers data, probe or attack the platform, or interfere with its normal operation. Automated use that places a disproportionate load on shared resources is not permitted. You may not resell the service as your own without a written agreement with us.

3. How we moderate

Text and uploaded media are screened automatically before publication. Material that the automated system flags may be held for human review, and a reviewer decides whether it stays, is limited, or is removed. We aim to apply the least intrusive measure that fits the severity of the breach, so a first minor issue will normally lead to a warning rather than removal. Manifestly illegal material is an exception and is removed at once without prior notice.

4. Reporting a problem

If you find content on a site we host that you believe breaches this policy or the law, write to abuse@maqal.blog with the exact address of the page, a description of the problem, and, where you are asserting an infringement of your own rights, enough detail for us to verify your claim. We review every report we receive, act on urgent matters immediately, and will tell you the outcome where it is appropriate and lawful for us to do so.

5. Consequences and appeals

Depending on severity and history we may issue a warning, restrict the visibility of a page, remove content, suspend a site, or terminate an account. Where we take action against your content we will tell you what we did and why, unless a legal obligation prevents us. If you believe a decision was wrong, reply to that notice and ask for a review; a person who was not involved in the original decision will look at it again and we will restore content that was removed in error.
